HOME OPERATOR - OVERNIGHT ON-CALL & 1 WEEKEND PER MONTH
Live-in position: 1 or 2 bdrm apartment provided
Compensation: Free housing, cable TV and utilities in exchange for part-time work.
While on-call you will be responsible to distribute nighttime meds and snack to each house and provide crises support should it be needed throughout the night. Your responsibility for the homes begins at 7:00 PM and ends at 7:00 AM each weekday and one weekend each month. This is a sleeping position, and you would rarely be interrupted. Delivering snack to each house takes about 1 hour each night at 7:00 pm, when your shift begins. While at each house you will spend a few minutes chatting and building a rapport with our clients.
When working one weekend per month you are responsible for complete operation of the homes while on-duty. The primary duty will be preparing meals for approximately 30 clients, but other duties could include grocery shopping, house cleaning, client assistance, etc. A weekend workload would include 16 hours of actual work, plus on-call.
This is a live-in position. You will be provided a 1 or 2 bdrm apartment within the Fernhill residence. This would be your home and, while on-call, you need to be at home or near-by. It is permissible to be away from home for an hour, but not more. Because of the need to be at home each night, this position best suits a person/family that typically spends weeknights at home.
The Fernhill residence where you would live is in historic Olde Oshawa between the hospital and mall. It is a 1920s 7-bdrm red-brick house with original plaster moldings and woodwork. The house is in a nice neighborhood and offers two large yards, one for residents and the other for your use. You would also have a large deck and your apartment features large rooms. Your utilities and Cable TV will also be paid for you.
